BRAZIL. BRPTO published on May 12 the Ordinance No. 10/2025, updating the fee schedule for services. The adjustment reflects a 24.1% increase in service fees. The new schedule will come into effect on August 7, 2025, 90 days after its publication.

Despite the long period without monetary review or update and the time lag in values (since 2012), the adjustments were defined responsibly and sensitively regarding the impact on users, remaining well below the accumulated inflation over the period.

The primary objective of this update is to ensure the financial sustainability of the Office by covering operational costs and generating additional resources to support the expansion of services and investment in technological modernization, in line with growing demand.

The main alteration in the INPI’s fee structure is the elimination of the grant fee, with this cost being incorporated into the application filing fee. 

For a standard trademark application with pre-approved specification (Code 389), the consolidated filing fee for a regular entity is R$ 880.00 (approximately US$ 176.00).

Crucially, for an application requiring free specification (Code 394), the fee for a regular entity is now R$ 1.720,00 (approximately US$ 344.00).

The system maintains a significant 50% discount for “small entities” and “natural persons” (pessoa física), reducing the filing cost to R$ 440.00 (approx. US$ 88.00) for pre-approved specification and R$ 860.00 (approx. US$ 172.00) for free specification, ensuring continuous accessibility to the intellectual property system.
